Islamabad (Shah Jamal for Bhaskar)  While many countries are adopting complete lockdown-like measures to protect against Corona, the Pakistan government has done partial lockdown in the country. Prime Minister Imran Khan says that complete lockdown is not possible. People stay at home voluntarily. The difficulty that Imran is talking about can be estimated by looking at the status of the workers across the country.
Maulvi protesting against the order to stop mass prayers
Ismail Shah (37), a daily wage laborer in Islamabad's Jinnah Super Market, says - My family has not eaten enough food for four days. I did not earn a rupee for a week. Ismail is one of the millions of people in Pakistan who work as laborers in areas such as construction work and run homes. Now these people are not getting work. Markets, public transport, international flights, schools, colleges, universities are closed here. The India, Iran and Afghanistan borders are sealed. The government has ordered Friday mass prayers in mosques. Many clerics are opposing this. A three-day religious conference took place in Lahore a few days ago. About 1.50 lakh people attended it. Many of these people came from the UAE, Palestine and Central Asia.
Only 25 thousand testing kits in Pakistan
So far 2,291 cases of corona have been reported in Pakistan. There have been 31 deaths. Community Health Expert Dr. Zeeshan in Islamabad said that it is becoming harder to compete with Corona due to lack of medical equipment. The health care system has failed. There is a bed for every 5 thousand people here. Sources in the health department are also saying that there are only 25 thousand testing kits in Pakistan. The government has ordered to purchase one lakh testing kits from Canada. The sample is being investigated at 14 laboratories. About 22 thousand suspects are awaiting test report. Hospitals like Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi have refused to accept the new samples. Here, doctors of 4 government hospitals in Islamabad have warned of a strike. Chairman of Young Doctor's Organization, Dr. Asfandyar says that if he does not get enough personal protective equipment, he will go on strike. There is only one way for corona patients and others in hospitals. There is a lot of carelessness in the management here.
