Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar gave 50 lakh rupees to fight the COVID-19 epidemic on Friday. Corona is wreaking havoc globally. So far 17 people have lost their lives in India. The lockdown continues for 21 days across India.
Talking about the major players of India, this is a big contribution of Sachin. Apart from them, many players have paid their salary, while some others have donated medical equipment to fight this dangerous virus. More than 24,000 people have lost their lives in this global epidemic.
On the condition of anonymity from PTI, a source said, "Sachin Tendulkar has decided to contribute Rs 25 lakh each to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund and the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the fight against Corona."
Sachin, 46, has been associated with charity work. He has come forward many times and helped people, which were never made public.
Other prominent cricketers Pathan Brothers - Irfan and Yusuf donated 4000 face masks to the Baroda Police and Health Department, while Mahendra Singh Dhoni contributed Rs 1 lakh through an NGO based in Pune.
Wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sprinter Hima Das are some of the prominent names among others who have donated their wages in the fight against the deadly virus. There is a 21-day national lockdown in India.
