Coronavirus pandemic has forced almost the whole world to stay at home. India is under lockdown at the moment until April 15 to break the transmission of the virus. However, this lockdown has led to the problems for the families of the daily wage workers. Several foundations and charitable trusts have come forward to help them even as the cricketers and celebrities have also done their bit.
Maharashtra is one of the worst affected states in India with more than 120 patients found positive for Coronavirus. Pune is one of the cities which was witnessed more cases in the state and in order to lend the helping hand to the daily wage workers in the city, MS Dhoni has donated Rs 1 lakh. He has donated the money via crowd funding website Ketto to the Mukul Madhav Foundation, public charitable trust in Pune.
The fundraiser has set the goal to achieve Rs 12.5 lakh for the noble cause and have already raised more than 12 lakh for the foundation. These donations will be used to provide the daily essential groceries to the families of the daily wage workers.
Heartwarming step by MS Dhoni but fans criticise him
While MS Dhoni’s help the daily wage workers is heartwarming and many are praising him for the same as well. But a few of the fans are busy criticising him as well. They felt that the 38-year-old should’ve donated much more and Rs 1 lakh is too small amount. Interestingly, MS Dhoni is the top donor in the fundraiser so far and the criticism seems to be uncalled for in this case.
Meanwhile, apart from the Ranchi superstar, the likes of Sourav Ganguly, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan have also come forward to help the poor people. The BCCI President has pledged to donate rice worth Rs 50 lakh while the Irfan and Yusuf have donated face masks to the people to protect themselves from the Coronavirus. Moreover, the Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has also donated to the Prime Minister’s relief fund and has urged his fans to donate too.
However, the fans seemed unimpressed with MS Dhoni and criticised him for not donating a bigger amount for the needy people.
